Identifier Tool and Map Layers

Your Map Legend contains all the municipality's GIS layers with attached tables of information working together to give you a "smart" map.

LAMA users can use the "Identifier" tool to obtain quick information or identify features that are contained in the GIS.

1.  Search for an address in the Addressing window.

2.  The parcel will appear centered on your map.

3.  Select the "Identifier" tool from the toolbar above the map, and click on the parcel or area on interest.

4.  The "Identify Results" window will pop up showing all layers in the GIS.

5.  The folders on the left side of the window have +/- symbols.  Click on the + to expand the folder the folder of interest.  (In this case, Zoning.)

6.  Click on the layer name under Zoning (turns blue) to bring up information from the GIS.

7.  The "Field" name and "Value" columns appear with data from the GIS.

This is useful as a quick tool to identify the zoning on a parcel or other areas on interest, such as this parcel is in the City limits, also in a flood hazard zone and in an historical district, as shown in the example above.
